Nioxin Scalp Renew Dermabrasion Thickening treatment
Billed as a facial for your scalp, the treatment helps to remove built-up and excess oil around the hair follicles to restore the scalp to its optimum condition. This in turn is designed to strengthen and nourish hair from its foundation to promote healthy growth and deliver hair with a thicker fuller appearance.
The treatment took place in the divine Michael John Salon in London and the products used will be with tailored specifically for your hair and scalp. The product is left on the scalp for a few minutes while a deeply relaxing scalp massage takes place. Your scalp will feel slightly tingly, which is completely normal and actually quite relaxing, and it has a delicious menthol smell. Once the treatment is washed off with cool water you will have noticeably smoother feeling hair and a softer scalp. The treatment is finished with a gorgeous, Nioxin-signature volumising blowdry.
You can see how dry and sad my hair was looking before and how much smoother it looked after. I really feel like the scalp exfoliation helped the subsequent products absorb and work better with my hair and it just felt SO clean and fresh and *swishy* (yes, that's a word.)
Nioxin Three-Step Systems
Nioxin also offer a variety of three-step treatments (Shampoo, Conditioner, Treatment) for different hair types and these are designed to strengthen your hair from the root and ensure optimum scalp health. I was gifted System 3.
'System 3 is specially designed for normal to thin-looking, fine, chemically treated hair. It amplifies hair texture while refreshing the scalp and providing moisture balance to coloured hair.'
I use the shampoo twice, leaving it on the second time for about 3-5 minutes and then rinse and then leave the conditioner on for 5 minutes. I have been applying the scalp treatment every other time I wash my hair and apply it to the roots only. The shampoo and conditioner have a very strong menthol smell (I would liken it to washing your hair with Gaviscon!) but it doesn't leave any residue, greasiness or weigh down your hair.
I have definitely seen a noticable improvement in the condition of my hair since I began using this system and when it runs out I will be repurchasing and will give another update. I love that there are six different systems as it means you can give your hair EXACTLY what it needs. I also love the idea of basically exfoliating your scalp - we know how important it is to our faces so why are we not regularly doing it to our hair!? Nioxin are definitely onto a winner with this, such a fabulous idea.
