The wind, rain and cold can be brutal on your skin plus 'tis the season of the sniffles so you're skin is pretty much guaranteed to take a battering as we begin hurtling towards Christmas coldness. Having suffered recently from a horrid bout of tonsillitis, plus a long-term affliction known as permanent 'Rudolph Red Nose' the second September ends, I have been reaching for two products in particular to soothe, hydrate and calm my skin..
Eau Thermal Avene Skin Recovery Cream £12.50 - This
calming cream is specifically
designed for naturally sensitive skin (fair, thin, prone to redness), or skin
which has become sensitised due to climatic conditions, excessive cleansing,
drying cosmetic or dermatological treatments. It quickly calms irritation,
helps restore the hydrolipidic film and provides long-lasting
protection. It's 'Non-comodogenic,
hypoallergenic, paraben-free, preservative-free, fragrance-free and colouring
agent-free', so I've found it's absolutely perfect for me to
use on my skin after using my at-home dermaroller, on my red raw nose
during tonsillitis/the sniffles and any time I feel my skin has taken a
pounding from the good old british weather (so any time I head outside at the
moment). It really helps with soothing, balancing and reducing any dryness or
flakiness. This is quite a thick product which I tend to use only at night after
cleansing, I apply a thick layer all over my face and leave to absorb over
night.
Gazelli Triple Youth Ultra Nourishing Saviour Mask £40*- This
luxuriously rich mask treatment contains Gazelli’s regenerative White
Oil™ to 'increase metabolic processes at the cellular level,
improving skin ability to regenerate itself, without drawing upon its reserves,
and absorb nutrients and oxygen'. I have been using this mask twice a
week, I leave it on for 15 minutes and relax. It smells divine as it
contains extract of figs and works to thoroughly to hydrate and nourish and
comfort the skin. A little goes a long way with this product and you don't need
to wash off, just tissue off the residue (I usually spray Avene thermal
cleansing water onto a cotton pad and gently wipe off any excess after 15
minutes) so the ingredients can keep on working.
So there you have my perfect pair, a gentle
calming, soothing cream and an indulgent, hydrating treatment mask. What
products are you putting on your face to soothe it now the weather has turned?
